Three main worlds that a shaman will journey to
Jan 28, 2023Shamanism is a practice that involves a practitioner reaching altered states of consciousness in order to perceive and interact with a spirit world and channel these transcendental energies into this world.
There are three main worlds that a shaman will journey to in order to retrieve information, conduct healing or bring about change.
The Upper World is the realm of the gods, ancestors and other benevolent spirits. It is a place of light and wisdom, and is often associated with the sky or the heavens.
The Lower World is the realm of the earth spirits, animal spirits and other energies that are closely connected to the natural world. It is often seen as a dark and mysterious place, but can also be a place of great healing and transformation.
The Middle World is the world of everyday reality, where we live our lives and interact with the physical world. It is also the world of our dreams and imagination, and the shamanic journey can take us to places within this world that are normally hidden from us.
